Wendelstein 7-X
Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) is a fusion research facility in Greifswald from the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). The main component is a so called Stellarator. The main objective for With W7-X is to investigate the physcial and techncial fundamentals for fusion reactor of the Stellarator type as well their general suitability as power plant.
The facility is not designed to produce any significant amount of fusion energy.
The first Helium plasma was generated at end of 2015, the first Hydrogen plasma in the beginning of 2016.
