Load vectors of all force/moment combinations Load introduction element Test setup
Hold Down Mechanism are used for the fixation of movable subsystems of a satellite during the launch phase
the inertia forces caused by the launch are mainly supported by the mechanism instead of the potentially sensitive subsystem support
in the performed test, the mechanical strength of the mechanism with respect to different combinations of axial and lateral forces and moments was verified
in addition to the mechanical stability, also the functionality of load transferring frictional connections was investigated
for the realisation of the load combinations in a standard tensile testing machine, a complex load introduction element has been designed
using with appropriately positioned and oriented pulleys, a resulting rope force was applied to the load introduction elementso that the specified load combination was achieved
the correct application of the force and moment combinations has been verified by a 6-axis load cell
