Cryogenic Leak Rate / Permeability Tests for CFRP Membranes

Measurement of leak rate / permeability of CFRP membranes in cryogenic conditions and pressure loads:

• Specimen geometry:
  
  • Circular shaped discs, flat or with spherical bulge
  • Diameter 150mm oder 450mm
• Temperatures:
  • 77k (LN2-Cooling)
  • 20K (LHe-Cooling)
• Test gas: Helium
• Measurement of leak rate with Helium-mass spectrometer / leak detector
• Test pressure: up to 20 bar (to establish strain levels, which are representative e.g. for tank applications)
• Possibility to install additional sensors on the specimen as e.g. strain gauges
