Thermo-Elastic-Deformation (TED) Testing for a Highly Stable Star-Sensor Bracket
Home/ Projects/ Space/ Thermo-Elastic-Deformation (TED) Testing for a Highly Stable Star-Sensor Bracket
Planning, performance and evaluation of thermo-elastic deformation testing for a ceramic (HB-Cesic®) star sensor bracket for Meteosat Third Generation Satellite
Design and development of a highly accurate deformation measurement test rig and measurement system to meet the required accuracy to verify the strict TED requirements of the sensor bracket
The high measurement accuracy was achieved by a combination of a highly stable test rig (Clearceram) and high precision sensors
Development of a sensor configuration to measure displacements as well as rotations of the star sensor supports (accuracy <1µrad/K)
TED tests were performed for homogenous as well as asymmetric temperature loads
For the application of defined gradients for the inhomogeneous temperature load cases, a special heating system based on heater foils has been developed and applied
The TED tests have been accompanied by respective thermo-elastic FEM simulations
